Privacy policy
The short version
Cats of Greece collects only what it needs to run: your account (if you sign in), what you post, and basic visit logs. Nothing is sold, and there are no third-party advertising or tracking scripts.
What we collect
- Account โ if you sign in with Google, your name, email address, and profile picture. You can hide your name and email or use an alias from the account page.
- Your content โ photos and videos you upload (including any location/EXIF data they carry), plus comments, cuteness votes, favourites, and blocks.
- Visit logs โ for each page view we store the page, the time, the referring site, your IP address and browser user-agent, and a daily one-way hash used to estimate unique visitors. This is used only for aggregate traffic statistics visible to the site administrator, and to tell real visitors from bots.
- Cookies โ a single session cookie to keep you signed in and to remember which cats you've already been shown. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Visit logs (including IP addresses) are automatically deleted after 90 days. Your account and content stay until you remove them.
Who it's shared with
Maps, address search, and place lookups use OpenStreetMap services (Nominatim/Overpass), which receive the coordinates or search terms needed to answer a query. Sign-in is handled by Google.
No advertising or cross-site tracking, and nothing is sold.
Your choices
You can hide your name/email, replace them with an alias, delete any photo you uploaded, and delete your whole account (with or without your uploads) from the account page. Signed-in users can report content and block other users.
This policy may be updated as the site changes; the date the site was last deployed shows in the footer.
